You have heard it said love your neighbor
and hate your enemy. This is what I say, love your enemies and pray for
those who persecute you. So that you may be children of your Heavenly
Father. He makes his sun shine on both the good and the evil, the
righteous and the unrighteous. (Matthew 5:43-45)
Ever feel unloved? I do. There are times I've felt so empty, so
alone, so unappreciated. There have been times when people who were
supposed to love me have been cruel and hateful towards me.
Relationships are the revenue of life and love is the currency of
relationships. We humans need to be bonded to others. We cannot be whole
outside of relationships with others. The absolute worst thing that can
happen to anybody is to be or feel unloved.
No, take that back.
The absolute worst thing that can happen to anybody is not to be
able to love other people. Hell, I sure, is a place made up of such loving
handicapped folks.
If we have our choice it's certainly better to be unloved and be
able to love others, than to be loved by others, but not be able to love.
In today's world it seems like value is measured by the stock
market. We Christians, especially, need to remember that real value is
love. The world's future depends on those who give love from God's grace,
not demanding anything in return.
Feeling unloved? Let your love rain on friends, sinners, and the
unrighteous. Real love will find you again.
