It's Monday The 13th That Brings Fear
| Egads it's Monday the 13th! A day that should be dreaded much more than any Friday 13th. After all Friday comes at the end of the week and no matter how bad things get at least the pain will soon be over. Monday the 13th is just the beginning. We humans usually feel better about the past anyway than the future. And, with good reason, one the whole things seem to just be getting worse. Forget about all the technological advances that are supposed to make our lives better. These are just mirages on the plane of existence of our growing pain. Are our lives any better because we have no idea why all the gadgets that make our life move faster break down? When was he last time an old fashioned typewriter made you feel stupid because you couldn't get it to work? Remember when you used to be able to join the National Guard and, for a few weekends and a couple of weeks a year, help pay for your college education? Now you'll get that education watching your behind in Iraq and friendly Afghanistan. And remember when our only source of information was the evening TV news and daily newspaper. Now thanks to cable tv and the Internet we are much more aware of how much this world is messed up and get to see our political leaders lie to us more often. Those new sources are telling us the economy is looking up which means the unemployed can look forward to going back to work in jobs that pay $8 an hour. Boy there's something to look forward to. And if you think things are bad now, hey, the week's just beginning! Enjoy your Monday. monty keeling
